Ojon dry recovery hydration shampoo and conditionner

Hey there!
I've been testing the Ojon products these past weeks, essentially the dry recovery shampoo and conditionner. I'll come back later on the repair line.

Shampoo:

Ingredients:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Glycerin, Ceteth-20, Coco-Betaine, Butylene Glycol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Seed Extract, Viola Odorata (Sweet Violet) Extract, Agave Tequilana (Blue Agave) Leaf Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parki (Shea Butter), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Citrus Reticulata Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Cinnamomum Camphora (Camphor) Bark Oil, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Elaeis Oleifera (Palm) Kernel Oil, Sesamun Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Macadamia Intergrifolia Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Xanthan Gum, Lauryl Glucoside, Glycol Distearate, Dimethicone, Polyquaternium-10, Lauramine Oxide, Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Salicylic Acid, Coco-glucoside, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Linalool, Limonene, Caramel (iln37243)

I found this shampoo moisturizing and very gentle to the hair. It's a good shampoo that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good moisturizing shampoo. However, you can find shampoos as good as this one for a cheaper price.

Conditionner
Ingredients:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Behentrimonium Chloride, Lamnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil, Elaeis Oleifera (Palm) Kernel Oil, Citrus Aurantiumbergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Oil, Citrus Reticulata Leaf Oil, Cinnamomum Camphora (Camphor) Bark Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Viola Odorata (Sweet Violet) Extract, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Seed Extract, Agave Tequilana (Blue Agave) Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Hydroxyethyl Behenamidopropyl Dimonium Chloride, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Salicylic Acid, Hexylene Glycol, Polyquaternium-7, Potassium Stearate, Potassium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Linalool, Limonene, Caramel (iln36905)

How great this ingredient list sound! Well this is where Ojon and I broke up!
This conditionner does what you can expect from any rinse off conditionner, but do not ask more!
Yes it detangles, yes the hair is very soft but all of this happens when the product is STILL in your hair. I left the product for 20 minutes under a heating cap. As soon as I rinse it out, my hair started to act up, specially my 12 weeks new growth! Even though I detangled with the conditionner in my hair, after rinsing, my hair was a tangled mess. What about the softness? Well after rinsing, it disappeared also!
Will I purchase it again? Absolutely not! I get better results with cheaper products.

Wash day

Hi there!

I made it, finally I got it in my schedule! I will keep it close now, what may you ask? The mid-week wash and deep conditionning! I managed to keep my schedule on track in order to wash and DC today. I'm so glad I did.
I washed with the Kerastase Oleo-relax line that I use on and off. Do not get me wrong: it's an excellent product line but the price tag and I are not friends. In France, it's less expensive respect to the US price tag but I think it's too expensive for what it is. I do not know why but I always end up repurchasing it. I gess I could add it to my staple list and make it permanent in my product stash. For some reason, I can't get myself to stick to it.

Back to the products.
I shampooed once with the Kerastase Oleo-relax shampoo. This shampoo instantly makes my hair soft like butter. I detangled my hair before rinsing the shampoo. I got absolutely no tangle. This is the only shampoo so far that I can detangle with.
After rinsing the shampoo, I squeezed the excess water and then apply the Kerastase Oleo-relax slim mask. This product always leave my hair the softest it can be but I prefer the old formula Kerastase Oleo-relax. I've used in the past faithfully this old formula and saw good results. Even though I was having a dominican blow out every week with a lot of heat, my hair was very healthy.
The new formula has a stronger smell but is thicker than the old version. The smell is nice but too strong and lingers in your hair for days.
I went under my steamer with the Kerastase Oleo-relax slim DC.
Soft city! My hair is thriving right now.

I accidently textlaxed during my last relaxer. I was not happy for a while but I have to admit that I'm loving the texture it leaves in my hair.
Some texture shots: first with the deep conditionner and after rinsing the conditionner, no product added

Who knows, I might start texlaxing from now on. I haven't decided yet.

PJ Alert : Ojon damage reverse

 Hi people!
I went to Sephora today and to my big surprise they now carry the Ojon line in the stores in France.
Well actually they only carry samples of few Ojon lines but you can order the full size bottles.

I probably never mentionned it but I'm a frequent traveller. I always carry samples size of my favourite products or trying new ones.  I also shop exclusively in my samples stash when packing before travelling.
The Ojon damage reverse shampoo and conditionner are the next one to try on my next trip. The review is yet to come.

Those who tryied it already, how did you like it, or not?

Coconut oil

Hi people!

What? already another post? Sounds strange for those of you who are familiar with my blog! yeah, yeah, yeah, I know... I'm trying to focus again on my hair journey.
So today, I would like to discuss Coconut oil as you would gess from the title.

At the beginning of my hair journey, I hated this oil in my hair. Do not get me wrong, I love the coconut oil smell, but the effects on my hair, no, mmm, no, No, oh no!
Researching in the internet, most of the article state how this oil could strengthen your strands when added in your regimen but for me it was a whole different story. My soft hair would turn hard as soon as coconut oil would touch it. When combing my hair, I would find small pieces everywhere!
Talk about strengthening...

I stayed away from Coconut oil for a while beacause of this curious reaction from my strands.
I rediscovered it a year ago, when I wanted to get rid of my big unused jar. I first started mixing it with avocado oil or jojoba oil to seal after moisturizing. The result was amazingly soft but strong hair. I could not believe it. I checked every area of my regimen to understand this sudden change. I'm simply using less protein respect to the beginning of my journey. This hindered me from receiving all the benefits from this marvellous oil.
I learn it well: before ditching any product, give it a chance to work with different combinations first and keep an eye on your current protein/moisture balance!

Benefits for my hair:
  • Stronger hair
  • Soft hair
  • Shiny hair
  • no more dry hair
It's my first oil of choice now when it comes to sealing or for a hot oil treatment.

What was your experience with coconut oil? please share.

Wash days

Hi People!
From months now, I've been struggling to get back to DC x2 a week.
When I started my hair care journey, it was the easiest thing. I dedicated time to all the steps of my regimen.
Life became more hectic in the past months and the mid-week DC is now skipped.
I've been trying to add it back but I have not succeed yet to be consistent again.

Yes, consistency! I believe that this is the main driver of any success in most life goals.

I've made wash days easier now that I mainly DC on dry hair. My hair likes it, so the mid-week wash should be a simple cowash after DCing on dry hair.
I'll try to implement it this coming week and be consistent.

Wash day program for 3 weeks:
  • DC on dry hair
  • Wash with hairone
  • Apply leave-in conditionner and coconut oil to seal
  • Air dry and then style
Mid-week cowash
  • DC on dry hair
  • Cowash
  • Apply leave-in conditionner and coconut oil to seal
  • Air dry and then style
4th week wash program: clarifying wash:
  • prepoo with oils
  • clarifying shampoo
  • DC
  • Apply leave-in conditionner and coconut oil to seal
  • Air dry and then style
This will be the program I'll try to stick to for the coming 3 months.
I'll be throwing protein in some of the DC sessions in order to avoid moisture oveload.

Relaxer update

Hi everyone
First of all happy 2012, I know I'm a bit late...

It's been a long time I haven't posted. I've been pretty consistant with my hair lately and felt there was nothing to report about. Although I've not been washing my hair 2x a week but only once, hugh!
I will definitely try to get back on track on this one as soon as I get control of my agenda. Life has been hectic lately.

I also have to confess that I've been more into skin care and make up rather than hair  related questions lately. It seems to be that the deeper you are in your journey with accomplished goals, the more you want from other life goals as well!! Empowering isn't it?

Today is my relaxer day and I must say that being consitent is definitely paying off. My hair is getting more and more thicker and healthy. I'm very pleased with it.
I used ORS lye relaxer and based my scalp with coconut oil; I've used this relaxer in the past and it left me underprocessed which was OK for me. Since this was my first time trying his relaxer, I give it another chance today with the coconut oil. It left my hair underprocessed to barely texlaxed. I'm not that pleased with it as I was not going for this look and also because it's not equally processed in all parts. The ORS no-lye relaxer used to act the same when I used to use it.
For this reason, I will not use it anymore and will be throwing away the left over, not that much anyway.
I will stick to my Optimum no-lye relaxer that ALWAYS delivered predictable results. I will be struggling a bit more to keep my hair moisturized but that's fine with me.

I've tweaked a little bit my homemade moisturizing hair lotion. This new formula did wonders from day 1 post relaxer to week 19 with keeping my hair moisturized and taming my new growth. I seal with coconut oil. It worked so well that I had absolutely no issue during the whole entire stretch with detangling, moisturizing. Amazing!!!

I think I found my holy grail moisturizer!!!

Happy hair journey!!!

Dry Hair

Hey people!

Lately my hair have been dry due to the weather getting colder.
I need to go back to DCing twice a week to increase the moisture level in my hair. I must confess that I've been less consistent on this for the last couple of weeks but I'm coming back in the game.

My mid-week wash will consist in:
  • DC on dry hair under my heating cap
  • Cowash with Hairone or a cheapy conditionner
  • Detangle with hair full of conditionner, rinse and towel dry my hair.
  • Add leave-in and air dry or blow dry on cool setting.

The week-end wash will consist in :
  • hot oil treatment under heating cap
  • shampoo wash if I need to clarify or cowash with HairOne
  • Roux porosity control if needed
  • use an instant conditionner to detangle under the shower,
  • DC under the steamer or heating cap
  • rinse and towel dry my hair
  • Add leave-ins, air dry or blow dry on cool setting.
I've started already this routine and my hair is thankful for that. I hope to see more results as we go deeper in the winter time.
